Waste Management is facing opposition for a landfill expansion in Northwest Harris County, Texas.

Residents in the community of Carverdale referred to the landfill, which has been in operating since the 1970s as a "blight" and "hazard." The expansion will allow WM to continue operations for the next 46 years.

The landfill is currently 171 acres, and the proposed expansion would add another 200 plus acres. Residents have cited environmental concerns, to which WM has noted its third-party testing of groundwater and air quality samples.
