A room at the Bismarck, North Dakota recycling center is filled with paint cans and other useful household essentials.

The program is open to residents who can bring in and pick up materials, avoiding sending these items to the landfill. The city just expanded the landfill by adding another cell at the cost of $7.7 million.

Thousands of tons has already been saved as a result.
