The South Dallas County Sanitary Landfill recently received the Innovation Project Award from The Iowa Society of Solid Waste Operations.

The winning project began as a study that discovered the landfill had five years left in its life. Because the landfill is landlocked, operators investigated a seven-acre area that would be ideal for a Subtitle D cell.

Along with Turkle-Clark Environmental Consulting, operators looked at the advantages to the overall final site design.
