After hitting capacity, a North Carolina landfill that once took in construction and demolition waste is closing permanently.

A construction and demolition landfill in Catawba County, North Carolina has announced it will close permanently on May 1, 2023, since it has reached capacity.

The Catawba County Construction and Demolition landfill is part of the County’s Blackburn Resource Recovery facility. Normally, the site would accept waste generate by construction, renovation, repair, and demolition but now that waste will be accepted by the facility’s Municipal Solid Waste Landfill.

The Municipal Solid Waste Landfill charges a fee of $37.96 for disposal due to carrying higher costs for construction and maintenance due to it being a newer landfill.
