Shotwell Landfill in Wake County, N.C., has asked Wake County Commissioners to quadruple its daily disposal limit and allow it to accept waste from seven more counties. This request has caused an uproar with neighbors, who have concerns about smell, truck traffic and clean water.
The Wake County Commissioners are currently seeking more information and will discuss the request in more detail during their next meeting.
WNCN has more details:
Shotwell Landfill is looking to grow up; asking Wake County Commissioners to quadruple its daily disposal limit and allow it to accept waste from seven additional counties.
Right now, the privately owned landfill can only accept construction and demolition waste from Wake and Johnston counties.
“Let me compete fairly against the big boys,” Keith Johnson, an attorney for Shotwell said.
