Bristol, Va. to Spend $1.5 Million to Mitigate Landfill Odors

The city of Bristol, Va., is funneling $1.5 million to alleviate landfill odors in what the city's mayor called a "serious issue for the community." 

The money will be used to hire a solid waste manager as well as four full-time employees, lease equipment and purchase an odor mitigation system. Seventeen additional gas well also will be installed.

Bristol officials answered questions from concerned residents at a recent public meeting.
