  • In the first quarter of 2006, Longwood, Fla.-based Waste Pro USA Inc. received contracts for solid waste and recycling collection from Winter Springs, Fla., Neptune Beach, Fla., Bennell, Fla., and Port St. Lucie, Fla.

  • San Francisco-based Norcal Waste Systems Inc. has reached an agreement to purchase a recycling plant in San Jose, Calif., from Waste Management of San Jose. The terms were not disclosed.

  • During its 12th annual Absolute Refuse Equipment Auction and Raffle at this year's WasteExpo, the Environmental Research and Education Foundation grossed more than $806,000 for industry research and education. WASTEC-associated manufacturing companies and NSWMA members donated items and services. Among the winners was Silver State Disposal, a division of Republic Services of Southern Nevada, which took home two pieces of Marathon equipment.
