  • Rumpke Consolidated Cos., Cincinnati, will donate $100 for each run batted in by the clean-up hitter of the Louisville Bats during home baseball games this season. The Bats are a AAA-affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds.

  • Houston-based Waste Management opened a landfill gas-to-energy facility at the company's Austin Community Landfill in Austin, Texas. The new facility is the ninth such facility for Waste Management in Texas.

  • Victor “Skip” Berg has started Environmental Strategies, Annandale, N.J., a sales management and strategic planning firm that deals with products and services within the waste and recycling industries.

  • World Waste Services, Miami, secured a residential recycling contract for single-stream service to 224,000 homes in South Florida — two-thirds of the households serviced in Miami-Dade County.
