The Chelan County Moderate Risk Waste facility in Washington announced that it collected a record amount of hazardous waste last year.

In 2024 the facility collected 76.4 tons of household hazardous waste from 2,190 visitors. The most popular waste type dropped at the location was latex paint, which weighed 54,494 pounds.

Of the waste collected last year, 69 percent was recycled, 22 percent was used as an energy resource, and 5 percent was incinerated.
