Waste Management President and CEO Jim Fish to Host Fireside Chat at WasteExpo

WasteExpo 2018 is just around the corner! This year marks the show’s 50th anniversary, and to help celebrate, we are pulling out all the stops to bring you the best of the best sessions, events, networking opportunities and so much more.

One of the must-attend sessions of this year’s show is the fireside chat session featuring Darrell Smith, president and CEO of the National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA), and Jim Fish, president and CEO of Waste Management. Both Smith and Fish have established early success in their roles, and in this session, these inspired industry leaders will explore perspectives on where we stand as an industry now, what significant challenges we face and where the waste and recycling industry might be headed in the future.

"Our industry has a long tradition of being able to remain competitive while also being collaborative," says Fish. "This session really focuses on the challenges we are all facing in our industry, and the future possibilities that provide the opportunity for continued collaboration. I also look forward to discussing other important topics, including the culture that Waste Management is building to attract and retain talent, the critical importance of safety in our industry and how we are addressing growing demand in a strong economy."

Topics covered will focus on the challenges and opportunities shared within the waste and recycling industry, such as safety, employee culture, driver shortages, recycling and technology.

“I consider it a great honor to be able to spend some time on stage with Jim Fish at the 50th anniversary of WasteExpo, and I am looking forward to hearing his perspectives on the issues facing Waste Management and our industry as a whole. I will ask Mr. Fish to discuss his views on safety, China, workforce, the economy and our bright future in the waste and recycling industry,” says Smith.

Fish recently highlighted his focus on employees in a video titled "The People of Waste Management.” The video below was shared at the annual Waste Management Sustainability Forum, where Fish also highlighted the company's commitment to sustainability. Both employees and the environment will be topics of this session.
