Howell, Mich., to Change Trash Hauler

Howell residents will see a new company hauling away their trash and recycling next year.

In a budget-driven move, council members Monday awarded a 10-year trash-hauling contract to Advanced Disposal, whose local branch is based in Whitmore Lake.The new contract ends a 25-year partnership between the city and Waste Management Inc.

For residents, the change means new curbside trash carts and recycling containers as well as a potential reduction in the city's trash millage.
