On Saturday Doha's state news agency reported that Qatar is planning to reduce food waste during the World Cup under an agreement between the Hifz Al Naema center and the tournament’s organizing committee. As a way to minimize waste, all surplus food is coordinated to be donated. The organization Hifz Al Naema, which translates to “Preservation of Blessings” in Arabic, has been working towards a more sustainable future across Doha and has been collecting and redistributing food waste since 2008. The plan to redistribute food surplus comes as part of the nation's plans to have a zero-waste-to-landfill tournament.
