Horseshoe Cleveland Casino will turn tons of food waste into electricity, heat or soil nutrients.
The casino, which already recycles trash, linens and uniforms, on Wednesday will begin using a recycling system developed by InSinkErator, of Racine Wisconsin. Horseshoe will also collaborate with quasar energy group in Barberton to turn more than two tons of food waste each week into energy.
Last year, the casino recycled more than 60 percent of its overall waste, or 679 tons, it said. That will increase to 90 percent once food waste is included.
