Established in 2015, Electron is a London-based tech company that harnesses blockchain to design new platforms and services for a decarbonizing, digitizing, decentralizing and democratizing energy sector. Electron is building a system for decentralized energy that comprises two main platforms. One is a digital asset platform for keeping track of energy assets in digital form, and the other platform is a trading platform that allows for the exchange of value. What blockchain provides is a quintessential coordination market that brings all the different players and assets into the system. This allows Electron to increase efficiencies, improve the use of renewable sources of energy and bring the whole functioning of the marketplace up to date with modern demands. Electron has received a lot of positive feedback from its interactions with those in the energy space, and it’s now working with key industry players in its U.K. energy consortium, including Baringa, EDF Energy, Flexitricity, Kiwi Power, Northern Powergrid, Open Energi, Shell, Statkraft and UK Power Networks.
