WAYNE, New Jersey -, Castrol®, the global lubricant brand, is announcing that Republic Services has become the world’s first company to join Castrol MoreCircular, a big step towards creating a more circular economy for lubricants in the United States. Republic Services is a leading environmental services company operating a fleet of 17,000 trucks across North America.

Castrol MoreCircular is designed to reduce the carbon footprint of lubricants1 by creating a more circular economy. It includes the collection of used oil as well as the supply of lower carbon footprint lubricants1 to business customers and was developed in partnership between Castrol and Safety-Kleen, a subsidiary of Clean Harbors.

Under the new agreement, Republic Services will source lower carbon footprint engine oils and hydraulic fluidsfor their large fleet from Castrol and provide their used oil for collection to Safety-Kleen. The used oil will be re-refined to remove impurities and to recover the base oil2. Leveraging Castrol’s cutting-edge technology, the high quality re-refined base oil will be combined with bespoke additives to blend MoreCircular lubricants.

“The use of Castrol MoreCircular products is aligned with our strong commitment to operating sustainably. These lubricants will enable us to operate our fleet with extended drain intervals while helping reduce our carbon footprint,” said Ralph Sauceda, Republic Services vice president, fleet management.
