Medical waste firm Stericycle Inc. reported higher net earnings and revenue for its second quarter and first half.
For the period ended June 30 the Lake Forest, Ill.-based Stericycle said net income rose 5 percent to $81.9 million, or 95 cents per diluted share, compared with $78 million, or 89 cents per diluted share, in the year-ago period.
Revenue climbed 21.7 percent to $640.8 million from $526.5 million in the 2013 period, according to a news release. Acquisitions accounted for about $81.7 million of the 2014 period’s revenue.
For the first half, net profits increased 6 percent to $161.1 million, or $1.87 per diluted share, compared with $152.7 million, or $1.74 per diluted share, a year earlier.
Revenue advanced 16.4 percent to $1.21 billion from $1.04 billion in the 2013 first half.
