Medical Waste Firm Stericycle Posts Stronger First Quarter Results

Medical waste firm Stericycle Inc. reported higher net income and revenue for its first quarter.

The Lake Forest, Ill.-based company said in a news release that for the period ended March 31 net income climbed 15.1 percent to $74.6 million, or 85 cents per diluted share, compared with $64.9 million, or 75 cents per diluted share, in the year-ago period.

Stericycle’s revenue rose 11.7 percent to $513.8 million in 2013 compared with $460.1 million in 2012. The company said acquisitions contributed about $37.1 million to the latest quarter.
