Public-Private Partnership Doubles Capacity at Quebec MRF

Article-Public-Private Partnership Doubles Capacity at Quebec MRF

A public-private partnership has expanded a material recovery facility (MRF) in Quebec City to double its capacity and efficiency.

The city of Quebec; the operator, Societe VIA; and equipment manufacturer Machinex Industries Inc. has added an optimal sorting center at the facility to meet growing material processing demands, according to a news release. The facility has been in operation since spring and now processes 35 metric tons per hour.

The expansion is the first phase of the project, Plessisville, Quebec-based Machinex said in a news release.

The system removes the glass initially, and then a MACH ballistic separator at the end of the process substantially reduces rejects while increasing the fiber recovery rate.

The system designed by Machinex also includes a feeding drum that allows the sorting line to have a constant material flow.
