Sims Opens E-Waste Recycling Facility in Dallas

Sims Recycling Solutions has opened an electronics recycling facility in Dallas.

The Chicago-based Sims said the plant covers 31,584-square feet. The facility will offer recycling services for residents and businesses through the Texas area, the company said in a news release.

The plant’s services will include hand-dismantling of electronics, hard drive destruction, baling and asset management. Further processing of electronics will take place at other Sims locations. With the Dallas facility Sims now has 14 facilities for e-waste in North America.

"By bringing our electronics recycling and asset management capabilities to Dallas, we will protect Texas consumers and businesses from the risks associated with electronic waste disposal, minimize freight costs, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, simplify logistics and bring new green jobs to Texas,” said Steve Skurnac, president for Sims Recycling Solutions, Americas.

The company plans to hire seven with the new facility and add more as materials coming into the plant increases.
