Methane Gas Collection at Lake County, Ohio, Landfill Set to Expand

The methane gas collection system at the Lake County Solid Waste Facility in Painesville Township is poised to expand in the next week or so.

Matthew Armand, Lake County Utilities Department public service coordinator, said it was decided in January to expand the system to 200 wells from 180.

About 10,000 tons of methane gas is produced by the landfill every year.
