Contract to be Finalized to Begin Landfill Methane Gas Extraction in Laredo, Texas

The city will begin turning trash into cash. City council instructed the city manager to finalize the contract to begin extracting methane gas and selling it for profit.

This project involves several players. Aside from the city, an engineering firm, and three investors are part of this project that will soon take form.

It's not an exaggeration to say that everyday tons of garbage makes its way to the landfill off 359 in southeast Laredo. As much as 2,100 tons of trash is thrown onto the pile -- every day.
