Earlier this month, the Town of Jupiter, Fla., was considering ending its contract with Waste Management Inc. But after seeing Waste Management’s last-minute campaign to keep its contract, the Town Council voted 4-1 to continue the 30-year contract.
Waste Management will continue offering its services to the Town of Jupiter for $12.45 per month.
Palm Beach Post has more details:
After an intense last-minute campaign by Waste Management — featuring free T-shirts, e-mails to council members and door-to-door visits to Jupiter residents — the town council reversed itself Tuesday and voted to continue the 30-year trash collection contract with the trash collection company.
The council voted 3-1 two weeks ago to replace Waste Management with West Palm Beach-based Advanced Disposal Services Solid Waste Southeast Inc.
The vote at Tuesday night’s council meeting packed with about 150 residents was 4-1 to award the contract to Waste Management. Councilman Jim Kuretski dissented.
