Waste Management Inc. is launching a landfill gas to energy facility the company’s operation in New Springfield, Ohio.
Houston-based Waste Management said in a news release that the operation at its Mahoning Landfill will generate 4.8 megawatts of electricity, enough to power more than 3,500 homes. The company expects the plant to begin operation by the end of 2012.
Waste Management owns or operates more than 130 landfill gas-to-energy facilities in North America.
