Waste Management Inc. will be launching a new fleet of compressed natural gas (CNG) waste vehicles in Tennessee and a new CNG retail fueling station in Antioch, Tenn.
The Houston-based Waste Management said it will be adding 45 CNG-fueled collection vehicles in the Middle, Tenn., area by 2017, in addition to the current 25 CNG vehicles in Middle. The fueling station will refuel Waste Management’s local fleet, sell CNG to commercial fleets and to retail consumers with CNG vehicles.
The self-service Clean N' Green Fuel station will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Waste Management and PetroCard funded the facility.
The company achieved its goal of reducing fleet emissions and increasing fuel efficiency by 15 percent by 2020 last year – eight years early.
