Article-Waste Industries Launches CNG Fleet, Station in North Carolina

Waste Industries USA Inc. has launched in North Carolina a compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station and a fleet of 33 CNG vehicles.

The Raleigh, N.C.-based Waste Industries said the investment gives it the largest waste fleet in North Carolina. The fueling station, in Bolivia in Brunswick County, cost $15 million and includes 46 filing hoses, according to a news release.

The CNG fleet features 32 collection trucks and one service truck. Waste Industries said the trucks cost about $35,000 to $40,000 more than a standard waste collection truck.

The company’s Brunswick County branch serves more than 79,000 homes and 1,500 businesses. It employs 85.
