Republic Adds CNG Trucks in Houston

Republic Services Inc. has added 49 compressed natural gas (CNG) waste and recycling trucks to serve the metropolitan Houston area.

The Phoenix-based Republic said in a news release that it also is installing two natural gas fueling stations for its CNG trucks. Republic has introduced 104 new CNG trucks in the greater Houston area within the past year, replacing older diesel-powered trucks.

Republic operates two divisions in greater Houston. At its North/Little York division, Republic serves more than 68,000 residential and commercial customers throughout greater Houston and employs more than 200.

Both divisions serve several municipalities in the area, including Conroe, Houston, Richmond, Roman Forest, Rosenberg, Shenandoah and Sugar Land. In addition, Republic provides service to the Conroe Independent School District, Houston Airport System and Houston Independent School District.
