Article-Republic Adds 107 CNG Waste, Recycling Trucks in California

Republic Services Inc. has deployed 107 compressed natural gas (CNG) waste and recycling trucks in California to serve Anaheim and Orange County.

The Phoenix-based Republic said in a news release that it also established a CNG fueling station to support its trucks in Anaheim. The new fleet replaces old diesel and liquid natural gas (LNG) powered trucks.

Republic serves more than 180,000 residential and 13,000 commercial customers in Orange County. The company serves several municipalities in the area, including Anaheim, Brea, Chino Hills, Fullerton, Garden Grove, Placentia, Villa Park and Yorba Linda. It employs more than 300 in its Anaheim division.

The move continues Republic’s plan of buying about 50 percent of the vehicles it acquires in 2013 that are powered by a domestic fuel source.
