Minneapolis’ Curbside Organics Program Collects 6,000 Tons Annually

While the majority of Minneapolis' residential garbage ends up at an incincerator, its curbside composting program has been working to reduce food scraps going to landfill.

First rolled out in 2016, the program diverts 6,000 lbs. of waste annually. Between 20-30 new households opt-in to curbside composting each week. The waste is sent to only one of two composting facilities in the state.
