The Waste Management Committee is excited about the DPW’s new composting program unfolding at the Mashpee Transfer Station.
DPW Director Catherine E. Laurent presented the program to members of the committee Tuesday, April 14, during a regular meeting.
“This is great news,” said committee member Thomas O’Hara. “You might have solved it all right here.” Selectman and committee member John J. Cahalane joked that he threw away two gallons of Chinese food in a week alone and that with the new composting program he would be able to reduce his waste stream. “This is a start,” he said. “It’s great.”
