Marathon Equipment Co. has formed three new business segments to address the evolving needs of its waste and recycling industry customers.

The Vernon, Ala.-based Marathon said in a news release the groups are Marathon Compaction Solutions; Marathon Recycling Solutions; and Marathon Renewable Energy Solutions.

Under the new branding strategy, Marathon will put the Nexgen baling and recycling products under the Marathon brand name, and they will serve as the basis of the Marathon Recycling Solutions segment. As part of this effort, Marathon, part of the Environmental Solutions Group (ESG), will collaborate with Eugene, Ore.-based Bulk Handling Systems (BHS) and BOA Recycling Equipment of Enschede, the Netherlands, to provide equipment technology for high-productivity material recovery facilities (MRFs).

The Marathon Renewable Energy Solutions segment will partner with Zero Waste Energy Development of Lafayette, Calif., to develop anaerobic digestion programs in the expanding waste-to-energy market.
