Rumpke Landfill Investigated for Waste Shift

Rumpke Consolidated Companies Inc. and a Kentucky agency are investigating a shift in buried landfill waste at the company’s facility in Butler, Ky.

The Cincinnati-based Rumpke said in a statement that the impacted area is near where waste is actively being placed. The movement is within the landfill itself and there is no safety threat, no equipment damage and no service interruption, the company said.

The Pendleton County Landfill matter is being investigated by Rumpke engineers and the Kentucky Department of Environmental Protection.

The landfill serves eight counties and receives an average of 1,200 tons of waste daily.
