Waste Management to Provide Commercial Recycling in Florida City

Sebastian, Fla., city officials have approved a deal to amend its franchise agreement with its trash and recycling service provider Waste Management. The new deal will allow city businesses to participate in commercial recycling services starting June 1.

Waste Management will soon begin a promotional campaign, which will offer businesses three months of free service if they sign up for the new recycling services by July 31. After the three-month promotional period, businesses will pay for recycling services based on the size of the recycling container and the number of pick-ups.

Businesses within the city can now have commercial recycling and it will be free for the first three months.

City officials approved a deal to amend its franchise agreement with Waste Management to provide commercial recycling services starting about June 1. The trash hauler will set up a promotional campaign to encourage businesses to sign up for the service by July 31 to get the three months of free service. After the first three months, businesses will pay rates based on the container size where they store recyclable material and the number of times each week the material is picked up. Businesses with 2-cubic-yard containers will pay $10.16 a month for once-weekly pickup and $21.16 for twice-weekly pickup. Customers with 4-yard containers will pay $21.16 for once-weekly pickup and $43.16 for twice-weekly pickups per month.
