Due to illegal dumping and the increasing costs of recycling, Middle Smithfield Township, Pa., is closing its recycling center in Monroe County within the next 30 days.

After the center closes, operations will be consolidated with local staffed centers.

The Middle Smithfield Township recycling center in Monroe County will close in the next 30 days and officials say it’s because of illegal dumping and the increasing costs of recycling.

Officials with the county's Municipal Waste Authority say operations will be consolidated with staffed centers.

They say people are dumping garbage and non-recyclable materials in the containers at the Middle Smithfield center.
