Lawmakers to Hear About Future of R.I.'s Central Landfill

The head of the agency that manages the state's central landfill says the facility will close in 2038 if current disposal and recycling rates stay the same. 

Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corp. Executive Director Michael OConnell says the state needs to promote recycling and divert as much trash as possible from the landfill to extend its life.
