Tire International will build a $25 million tire recycling and manufacturing facility in Berkeley County, S.C. Operations at the recycling facility are slated to begin by the end of this year.

“South Carolina continues to have a strong reputation in the materials recycling sector,” said Bobby Hitt, the state’s Secretary of Commerce, in a press release. “Tire International’s decision to locate in Berkeley County will further bolster that reputation.”

“The ability to have our raw material delivered by rail along with the proximity of the Charleston port will be critical to the success of our business,” added Marty Sergi, chief financial officer of Tire International, in the press release.

According to Tire International, the facility will recycle tires by using them to produce residential and commercial flooring, rubberized asphalt and landscaping materials, among other items.
