One of the highlights at each WasteExpo is the Environmental Research and Education Foundation's (EREF) charitable auction. EREF’s largest fundraiser has raised almost $20 million since its inception. This year's event raised more than $1.5 million.

The live auction was held Wednesday afternoon. A silent auction also takes place with EREF accepting bids throughout the show.

Among the highlights include opportunities to play golf, attend sporting events or do other activities with some of the top executives from the solid waste industry's publicly-traded firms. Other big ticket items include some of the latest trucks and equipment from the industry's top manufacturers. The prizes are auctioned live. There is also always a classic car that's raffled off.

For the past two WasteExpos, there has also been online bidding as well. A full list of the prizes that were available can be viewed at the EREF Auction Booklet here.
