The acquisition for an undisclosed amount included the Sanford, Fla.-based MaxWest’s Sanford municipal biosolids gasification operation that served three cities in the region, as well as intellectual property assets.
PHG also said in a news release that Jeff Snyder joined the company as head of the sales division, after serving as the chief of sales and marketing at MaxWest. The company ceased operations in May 2013.
The acquisition will diversify PHG’s offerings to the WTE market. “We see significant value in what they had accomplished both in technology as well as furthering the recognition of gasification as a key element in waste-to-energy solutions,” said PHG President Tom Stanzione. “We determined that adding this technology to our portfolio would allow us to both explore new markets and better serve our current and future customers.”
The company said it hasn’t determined the future of the Sanford WTE plant. The system processed sludge from the city’s wastewater treatment plant, as well as from the two other cities.
