Last year, TerraCycle collected tens of millions of cigarette butts from more than 50 cities in the U.S. alone. This year, it plans to exceed those numbers.
According to the companies, this move will divert the combined 5.5 million straws used annually by the two venues from landfill.
The acquisition is in line with the company’s growth strategy and follows a round of investment from Insight Venture Partners and Ireland Strategic Investment Fund.
