Charged with a Crime

Keeping landfill equipment up and running is trying enough without batteries going missing. But a thief raiding Anne Arundel County Landfill near Baltimore clearly had little sympathy for the challenges of waste fleet maintenance as he lifted batteries from nine of the landfill’s trucks in the dead of night. The suspect, 29-year-old Daniel Orlando Corona of Crownsville, Md., caught the attention of police who had been staking out the landfill following a series of prior thefts. Corona was apprehended with the help of a K-9 unit after he fled into nearby woods. He is accused of theft, trespassing and several additional charges.

He will not be charged with battery.
