Atlanta -- The Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corp. (RBRC), a nonprofit public service organization, has announced collection data for the first half of 2003. RBRC says it collected 2 million pounds of rechargeable batteries from January through June. The figure is a 30 percent increase compared to the same period in 2002. RBRC has opened 880 new collection sites, which brings the number of businesses, communities and public agencies participating in the rechargeable battery program to 3,700 in the United States and Canada.
