San Jose: City Partners with Goodwill to Keep Mattresses Out of Landfill

A new partnership between the city of San Jose, GreenWaste Recovery and Goodwill of Silicon Valley will mean more jobs for the unemployed and an easier way for residents to dispose of mattresses.

Jennie Loft, a spokeswoman for the city's environmental service department, said that the Mattress Recycling Program is a triple win.

The program will allow residents to pay a fee to conveniently set mattresses on the curb rather than sending them to the landfill, and provide up to eight new positions in the Goodwill Mattress Recycling Program.
