Companies across the U.S. are getting creative when it comes to developing initiatives to achieve zero waste. Ever since the U.S. Zero Waste Business Council launched the first-ever zero waste business certification program in the U.S. in 2013, companies across the nation have stepped up their sustainability efforts by developing programs and policies for reducing, reusing and recycling materials that would otherwise be sent to landfill, ultimately earning themselves zero waste status.

Just last year, Google committed to a Zero Waste to Landfill initiative for its data centers. And Sodexo committed to implementing a multifaceted approach to eliminate food waste in landfills.

Additionally, automakers like General Motors and Toyota and breweries like Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. and New Belgium Brewing have developed zero waste policies and programs and have earned themselves zero waste status.
