Hormel Foods Reduces Landfilled Waste by Nearly 30 Percent

Hormel Foods reduced the amount of waste it sent to landfills by 28 percent in its fiscal year 2010 when compared with its fiscal year 2006, the company announced in its recent sustainability report. The company had set a goal of reducing its landfilled waste by 10 percent by fiscal year 2011 when compared with fiscal year 2006.

The company also announced that it recycled 41 percent of its total generated waste in fiscal year 2010. Hormel is aiming to reach a 50 percent recycling rate by fiscal year 2011.
