Staples Cartridge Recycling Reaches Milestone

Staples Inc. said its recycling of ink and toner cartridges has reached 350 million since 2005.

The Framingham, Mass.-based office supply retailer said that through its cartridge recycling program it has recycled about 182 million pounds of plastics and metals, according to a news release. The past three years Staples has averaged more than 60 million cartridges recycled annually.

With the program Staples customers receive $2 back in Staples Rewards per recycled cartridge, with a limit of 10 per month. Customers can drop off used cartridges at any Staples retail location, and they can use Ink Recycling Rewards to buy most items from Staples, in-store or online.

Staples Rewards members receive free shipping from and 5 percent back on all purchases.
