Schriever Air Force Base Sees Recycling Rate Slip; Recommits to Improvement

Schriever Air Force Base saw its recycling rate slip to 37 percent this year from 52 percent in 2012, and is working on plans to improve the rate.

The Colorado Springs, Colo., base has created a working group to address the issue, it said in a news release. The base has accumulated numerous ideas from a recycling program working group, and once leadership approves them many will be implemented, said Pamela Rosinski, 50 Civil Engineer Squadron environmental consultant.

Schriever Air Force Base in April 2012 set a goal to recycle 55 percent of its solid waste.
