Waste Connections Opens Houston Waste Facility

Waste Connections Inc. has opened a waste and recycling hauling facility in Houston.

The Woodlands, Texas-based Waste Connections opened the multimillion-dollar hauling yard facility, which covers seven acres of land and has 11,300 square feet of office space.

The facility will help the company improve efficiencies and better serve its growing customer base in the region, the company said in an e-mail. Its yard will house and service Waste Connections’ trucks, and its office will contain customer service representatives and account managers.

Waste Connections did not disclose the exact cost of the facility.

The company expects the facility to house 25 to 30 employees, about half of which will be new with the other half relocating from nearby facilities. The company expects to double that employment in the next two years.

Waste Connections has three other yard facilities in Houston, but the company wanted one more central to the city, said Ron Mittelstaedt, chairman and CEO.
