Indiana House Passes Recycling Bill with 50-Percent Goal

Indiana’s House has passed a bill establishing a state recycling goal of 50 percent by 2019 and requiring recyclers to submit an annual report to the state regarding its recycling activity.

House Bill 1183 was passed unanimously by the House and referred to the Senate. If approved, the bill, introduced by Rep. David Wolkins, R-18, would take effect July 1.

Beginning in 2015 recyclers would submit annually a recycling activity report to the state department of environmental management. The department’s commissioner would be required to post on the department’s website a uniform recycling activity report.
