Waste and recycling pros are trying their hand at social media, but our research shows there’s a lot of room for growth and education.

There’s no denying social media has become ubiquitous. It’s easy to get overwhelmed by the numbers: Some 73 percent of adults use social networking, according to a Dec. 2013 report from Pew Research. Facebook remains the dominant platform, with 71 percent of adults using that site. Meanwhile, 22 percent say they use LinkedIn and 18 percent use Twitter.
