Collecting solid waste-related data, especially at state or national levels, can be a momentous task. Whether public or private, statutory or federal, data is proprietary or scarce. Where it does exist the data is highly variable, which is fitting given that this is analogous to the same heterogeneity apparent in the composition of waste itself.
