Kearney, Neb., Awarded $220K for Household Hazardous Waste Facility

he Nebraska Environmental Trust has awarded the city’s Sanitation Division a $220,000 grant toward construction of a new household hazardous waste collection facility.

The trust board announced funding for the project at its April 2 meeting in Lincoln. The project is one of 113 projects receiving $19,491,958 in grant money from the Nebraska Environmental Trust this year.

The city has been collecting household hazardous waste from Buffalo County residents for about 15 years. The program provides residents way to dispose of unwanted household chemicals. Kearney Hub
